That's old school hockey. You see all kinds of malicious hits and plays these days with hardly any responce any more what so ever. Everybody is just waiting for the league to hand down punishment. You don't even see guys like Shanahan, Deadmarsh, McCarty, etc...playing much in the league anymore. Maybe hittting the offenders in the wallet instead of on the ice is better.

[quote=GeoffY]Did Chicago a mini-favor today. Out of the playoffs and trying to play their way out of a decent draft......Then opening night next October, just you watch, right back to Schitt Creek hockey.
If that happens, I sincerely hope the fans are smart enough to boycott the new arena until this team is upgraded

Back when we had a team that played as a team, and with passion....those were the days.

It's tock.

This team made the playoffs for 25 straight seasons. Have some humility and perspective. No one can be great forever and there are no easy fixes.

The best thing that they can do right now is draft Liljegren, play him in the AHL with Hronek, and tank for Svechnikov #2. Have some patience FFS.

Or... catch a Grand Rapids Griffins game. Where the team plays with desperation and heart and like a well-oiled machine (props to Todd Nelson and coaching staff who've done a phenomenal job). Teammates actually stick up for each other and drop the gloves whenever called for (see: Mark Tangradi, Callahan, Bertuzzi). Oh... and the games are much more entertaining.

I'm still a Red Wings fan first... always will be. But the last few years of mismanagement by Holland and the inevitable aging core / departure of our star players definitely tempers the enthusiasm.

Hoping to see Hronek and Smith play at Wednesday's game against Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators AHL team).

Probably. And then we'll be ready to miss the playoffs by only a single point!
